kinematix

As Northeastern University's Urban Dance Troupe, the purpose of Kinematix is to provide a channel for students to express themselves through urban culture- particularly through the interest of street dance. Kinematix brings together the styles of break dancing, popping and locking, house, funk, boogie, krumping, hip hop, and street-jazz (as well as a fusion of many other styles) that constitute the art of street dance. Kinematix encourages performances, enriches the talents of its members, promotes social interaction, and strives to bring awareness of the urban culture to its audience.

Jinah Kim hails from Los Angeles and is a senior at Tufts University. She has performed in various venues around Boston and took her act to the UK last spring where she performed weekly at the historic Turf Tavern in Oxford. Many would describe her original material as acoustic folk pop though she's covered everything from Joan Jett to Weezer. Check her out on myspace.com/jinahmusic and keep an eye out for her new band, The Nervous, coming soon to a venue near you!

Steve LinJinah

"Steve Lin is a singer-songwriter.  A Harvard senior in the mighty Kirkland House, Steve has been creating music for the past few years.  Many of his songs still lack lyrics, often due to the difficulty of translating abstract emotions into understandable words.  In the past, numerous people have noted Steve's uncanny resemblance to the Taiwanese pop star Wilber Pan.  While at a restaurant in Shanghai last summer, dozens of people were convinced that he was indeed Wilber.  It was amusing but also somewhat awkward.  His band The Dharma Seals will soon be releasing its debut album.  Add them on MySpace!  www.myspace.com/thedharmaseals

Steve thanks you for reading thus far!"
